What Do You Build Your Pride On?
It’s important as we go through our days,
in different situations,
to ask ourselves
“What Am I Building My Pride On?”
Typically this comes in times where our pride takes a shot.
One way I recognize this is imagining am I standing on a narrow or wide base..
For instance, I talk to myself like this,
Am I holding my pride on being right?
Because it’s inevitable that you’ll run into somebody, who’s smarter or knows better.
Therefore when he proves me wrong, I feel shitty or my pride is shot.
Am I building my pride on being on the inside?
Like when you have an inside joke with a friend, and just you and that friend know it.
Or when your siblings have little secrets,
And do you hate when others exclude you on that?
because it’s inevitable that’s going to happen.
Am I building my pride on recognition?
Because it’s inevitable, some people just won’t care, or have the time of day to give you compliments for it.
Am I building my pride on my financial status?
Because chances are you’ll always run into somebody with more money than you do, or more money savvy, or money hungry.
Im not here to tell you what you should or shouldn’t build your pride on, because well hey you can build it on anything you want to.
Just be advised that building your pride on something fragile, placing yourself on a platform that is bound to fall with little effort, is just asking to have that pride hurt, many many times over.
Now if you’re making your pride to be built upon being the smartest, the most fit, the richest, than by all means go for it! There’s always space for “most (fill in the blank) in the world”
But understand the unbelievable price it costs to make that happen, and then the work to maintain it and make the platform your standing on be stable,
and if it’s worth it to you, go and work for it, go and make that your battle.
I guarantee you’ll have more support than you imagined.
But, building your pride on something that is wide, and immovable, that is achievable, pays off so much more in terms of confidence, self esteem and over all fulfillment.
Building your pride on things like
being the hardest worker in the room,
being the most caring,
being the most contributing,
being the most understanding
Those are just some examples, but just saying them out loud you can feel the power behind the stable base they are.
They’re all do-able, and applicable in our daily lives, right now! Like right this second.
In certain times throughout the day, when you feel insulted, or inferior, ask yourself
” What am I currently building my pride on “
and I guarantee you’ll get to the answer like you never have before,
and the best part is, you have the power to change what you build your pride on,
in a matter of seconds,
with little, to no effort.
