State Your Intention, And Adversity Comes Rushing
Spiritually speaking,
When you put out to the universe what you want to happen,
It rushes to ask you a question in return,
“How serious are you?”
It comes rushing with tests and things to make you prove,
just how serious you are about that goal you set for yourself
Practically speaking,
whenever you set a goal, like something you want to start, or a house you see yourself getting one day, all of those,
You get that 3 seconds, of man it would be nice to have that,
Then it switches to
“What would it take to get there?”
And that question alone can stop some,
Then you see what it takes,
Then you try it,
Then you see you need all these other things to happen, just to get started,
Do you then quit?
No? Cool
You’ve stepped in the arena,
But let’s say you get started,
It sure is fun,
It’s motivating,
it’s learning something new everyday,
Every new action is a rush of joy,
Then something bad happens, like you needed licenses, or an audit of your taxes, or a bad review,
Do you quit then?
No? Cool
Now, you’re in the game
Then you fix it, and over come it, and get back afloat
Do you then quit?
No, of course not, why would you?
But then..
But then,
it gets monotonous,
It gets boring,
Theres very little results,
Its not getting anywhere,
Do you then quit?
Im sure, hell I’ve quit on a bunch of stuff at this point.
But if you don’t?
What if you keep going, with that same intensity?
There, right there, that process is what Seth Godin calls “The Dip”
Thats the phase between beginner and mastery.
I like to look at it as the filtration process.
Chances are, you have a goal, that if it’s a good one, many many many people want the same if not very similar.
Now, there must be a filtration process or else it’d just be an easy attainable goal that everyone got.
What if your goals, weeded out all those who aren’t serious, and then weeds out those who aren’t good enough, and then weeds out those who quit, and then who’s left is those who simply, didn’t.
That..
That could be you,
Or me!
That’s who gets the goal.
That bridging the gap between beginner and mastery, the hardest part, leaves those who are good enough to get it.
So that thing, that place you want to be, is on the other side of facing and killing adversity time and time again,
But it all starts,
That very second, you state your intention.
