Why Working For “It” Feels Better Than Having It
Now that I’m off 75Hard I’ve said it long enough that I loved and could eat Fried Chicken all day everyday
And starting the program, I said that it would be the first thing I have out of 75Hard
Here I am 2 days out..
..and I find myself not even wanting it
And I’m almost confused as to why..
This blog is about being Conservative..
In all areas of our life, were being encouraged to conserve
Specifically these 2 areas:
To conserve calories for our diet..
Save your money for your future..
Both of them are hard to argue right?
so what was more satiating,
the thought of wanting it or actually having it?
Graham Stephen, tells a story where he wanted a Lamborghini since the start of his career
and all day
worked
saved
worked
saved
and when time came where he could purchase one
he realized he’d built up so much momentum getting himself to the point of being able to buy,
that he had the feeling
Is the thrill of having it , going to be just as good as the the reward of working, and working, and being able to buy it?
am I good enough with knowing I can have it?
should I keep moving forward with working and saving?
And take the skill of earning this,
mans continue on to earn being able to buy 2?
or 3?
Put yourself in his shoes,
He had saved $400,000 to afford one,
should he really go back down to $0, to get and drive a Lamborghini
just because he wanted it?
Are the lessons he’s gather med worth the Lamborghini itself?
Wont he be able to monetize those lessons more than a car?
Now when it comes to us,
our daily decisions aren’t quite yet to buying Lamborghini,
(I hope one day they are btw)
BUT..
I feel the same way when conflicted with terrible food choices lol
Or the work leading up to a “Cheat Meal”
Like you’ve worked this hard, and have received progress,
Maybe you’ve seen your waste go down an inch,
maybe you’ve seen your cheechs and neck get a wee bit slimmer..
Do you really need a validating example of the work?
Or would you rather just continue the work?
Like a cheat meal, or a Lamborghini,
it would take you back far in your progress and momentum,
just for what?
Validation?
Approval?
A “fuck you”?
Short term joy?
You’re going to do what youre going to do anyway, but ask yourself
Is getting it,
going to feel as good
as doing the work to earn it?
And hey if you’re a badass like me😉,
you work hard to build up the momentum that you don’t even want to indulge..
Progress becomes your standard..
