Sit There, Don’t Just Do Something

Sounds funny right?

I read that exact statement, as a header, of a chapter in Seth Godin’s book Purple Cow

I was reading Purple Cow, a week or two into the start of the Shelter In Place and Stay At Home orders, and it simply gave me a chuckle

Soon after I see this article from

The New York Times stating,

“You shouldn’t be chasing your goals during this pandemic..”

THE NEW YORK TIMES..

Im sure they reach a pretty substantial number of people, so

Why would they say something like that?

From my experience, doing the shit that I know will move the needle forward,

Is the fucking battle itself

It’s fighting my inner bitch voice that says

“you’re tired bro”

“you’ve worked hard enough”

”you deserve that cheat meal”

”your sore from yesterday”

It’s fighting every emotion and thought that tells me to take it easy

sound familiar right?

It’s probably because you’re just like me

And I’ll be the first to say, I don’t always win that fucking battle

Here’s another thing,

move done a lot, I mean A LOT, of thinking,

too much thinking,

I realized it’s time I start DOING.

Now The New York Times is out here trying to familiarize taking off from our goals?

Uh from my observation there’s a ton more people not where they want to be, than there is people, where they do want to be

Not to mention, with current injustices in our society, doesn’t it seem like somebody’s agenda to just wait until we stop demanding justice,

in hopes we’ll just forget or move on

and hey, let’s be honest some will..

But I won’t take it,

Nope.

The notion of

“Sit There! Don’t Just Do Something!”

is obviously a play on words to the statement

“Dont just sit there, Do Something!”

and hits that big giant sarcastic asshole nerve of mine right on the spot

Because, just as easy it is to sit there, it’s as simple to get up and do something about it.

But, you tell me what it means

You piece it all together..

Better yet,

Go and SHOW US.
