How To Know If You Deal With Social Anxiety

I had this conversation just today..

A friend was identifying they have this social anxiety, and only want to hangout with family and life long friends..

No interest in meeting new people, or even connecting with those mid-tier relationships..

And it helped us realize some tell tale signs someone is dealing with social anxiety.

You either go 1 of 2 ways -

1) You shy away, stay quiet and keep to yourself.

  • This happens when someone has a bunch of fuck ups going on, or a track record of, and are ashamed of their current situation. They don’t want to go through the deal of explaining all the past events, the strings of decisions (which require justification), that led them to where they are and how they’re gonna “BOUNCE BACK” with great certainty.. Instead, they cover their story with blankets of vagueness and general statements. “I’m good.. Working hard.. Grinding.. Getting by.. Nothing much.. Chillin.. “ - You’ve heard it before..

OR,

  • They jump ahead of judgement, and push their desired image on to others before they get the chance to pass judgement. They desire so much to impress with statement characteristics, like having a name brand car, the jewelry, they wear fedoras.. Ahh the ever so essential fedora🤭.. They answer un-asked questions about their knowledge, credibility, goals or even salary. It’s all intentional acts, to portray the image of a place along their path they’d like to be, before being there. It’s a quality of a person that’s hard to figure out, but boom, I hope I’ve helped..

These both fall under the category of social anxiety.

It’s the panic before a social event, it’s the shallow breath as you park and get ready to approach the entrance, it’s the double checking of every little detail of your bracelet being just eschew, and your shirt being pulled just so, and the holding back of the I’ll pay for that!

A good sense of awareness is that our friend, ended with “I feel as if I just got my shit together, my social anxiety would go away.”

He’s right.

If this is you, imagine the confidence of actually being fit..

actually being wealthy..

actually being a kind hearted person..

actually being generous..

actually doing cool shit..

You would have the calmness of confidence all the time and wouldn’t ever feel the need to seek validation from others.
